Call for Proposals: Fund for Sustainable Growth (F.C.S.) – Entrepreneurial Discovery – CUP B89J24001300005

FEMA Industry (Italian Cutting Systems S.r.l.) is proud to lead the project ROSHAPE (RObotic SHAping Platform for the production of Expanded Polyurethane), an initiative funded as part of the Call for Proposals: Fund for Sustainable Growth (F.C.S.) – Entrepreneurial Discovery, focusing on the areas covered by the 2021–2027 National Strategy for Smart Specialization (SNSI).

The goal of the project is to develop an advanced technological platform for the production of irregular polyurethane foam geometries using robotic systems, overcoming the limitations of traditional manufacturing methods and opening up new possibilities for the production of components with highly complex geometries.

FEMA Industry: Leading the Way in Innovation

As the lead partner, Italian Cutting Systems S.r.l. coordinates the partnership’s activities, contributing its expertise in the design of industrial machinery, automated production lines, and software for processing polyurethane foam. The company has extensive experience in the development of cutting systems, automated processes, and digital solutions for production management.

Participation in ROSHAPE represents another step forward in the innovation journey undertaken by FEMA Industry. For years, in fact, the company has been investing in the development of new technologies for the automation and digitization of production processes, actively participating in projects funded under programs promoted by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (formerly MISE).

Through collaboration with industrial partners, software companies, and research organizations, FEMA Industry helps transform applied research into concrete solutions for the market, with the goal of making production increasingly efficient, flexible, and sustainable.

A Partnership of Excellence

The project involves an ecosystem of highly specialized partners capable of bringing together complementary expertise in the fields of polyurethane processing, software development, and industrial research:

  • Polform S.r.l., a leading company in the processing of polyurethane foam and the production of components for upholstered furniture;
  • Centro Software Meridionale S.r.l., which specializes in the development of custom software and the digitization of production processes;
  • Dyrecta Lab S.r.l., a research institute active in the fields of computer science, mechatronics, artificial intelligence, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

The collaboration among the partners will enable the development of a platform capable of meeting the new demands of the market, which is increasingly focused on customized products, adaptive production processes, and greater industrial sustainability.

ROSHAPE therefore represents an important opportunity to explore new applications of robotics in the polyurethane foam sector and to consolidate FEMA Industry’s role as a leader in the development of next-generation foam-cutting technologies.
